THE recent case of the driver who faces a fine for having a drink of water while in charge of her car, further highlights the folly of many others who drive, using mobile phones in one hand, women applying make-up on the move, drivers smoking cigarettes or reading papers, chastising children in the back etc.
None of these are paying full attention to an already-hazardous traffic problem. They put themselves at risk and they endanger other road users and pedestrians.
The police are right to pull these people over and apply the full weight of the law.
