AN anti-drugs project in Morecambe has won a 12-month extension after a glowing report by the Institute of Health Research.
The Breaking the Chain project encourages youngsters to develop skills such as DJ mixing skills, computer music making and art workshops.
The report concluded: "The project has more than met its aims and output targets. It has filled the gap in the provision of support for young people who wish to remain drug free."
Ian Clements, of the Home Office's Drug Prevention Advisory Service added: "This is a very important project. We all know that prevention us better than cure.
"By reaching out to young people with such imaginative activities we are confident that those vulnerable to drug misuse will be able to break chains of risk taking behaviour."
