EMPLOYEES from BNFL Springfields site in Salwick have given a helping hand to families of leukaemia sufferers at Manchester's Christie Hospital.
The Springfields employees medical research and charity trust fund has donated kitchen equipment and furniture worth more than £1,200 to the hospital's adult leukaemia unit.
Unit social worker Diane Robinson, said the the equipment was desperately needed for a special room, used by relatives of patients who need to stay with them during their treatment. She said: "Although the room provided relatives with somewhere to rest and sleep, there were no facilities to cook and eat a a meal, or even to make a cup of tea."
Among the new equipment is a fridge, a kettle, a toaster and furniture.
Diane said: "I would like to express our enormous gratitude to Springfields' employees for their assistance."
