PRESTON singing star Stephen Bayliss has agreed to be the opening act at a charity concert in Manchester this month, called A Night To Remember.
And why wouldn't he -- he'll be on the same bill as Diana Ross, Celine Dion, and the girls from Abba. Well, almost.
A Night To Remember is a Stars In Their Eyes style evening of music and entertainment, with impersonations of the above stars and also featuring appearances by a gospel choir, and dancers from Salford College of Performing Arts, all compered by Wayne Kennedy.
Stephen will perform five songs at the beginning of the night, classics from the likes of Nat King Cole, Luther Vandross and Lionel Richie. He stressed that his numbers are not actually impersonations, though, just his own voice: "People say I do sound like the singers, even though I don't mean to."
He got involved after friend Eva Royle, who impersonated Celine Dion on the hit TV show, passed his name on to one of the organisers of the Christian Lewis Children's Cancer Care, to which all proceeds from the concert are going.
The show takes place at 7.30pm on Sunday June 18 at Manchester's Palace Theatre. Tickets cost £10 and are obtainable by calling the Palace theatre on 0161 2456615.
