Division A Cup Final
Bowerham Bombers 2 Morecambe 2
(2-2 aet, Morecambe win 4-3 on penalties)
DESPITE hard work and determination, Bowerham Bombers were outgunned in a penalty shoot out.
Morecambe took the lead in the 10th minute when James Hodder pounced on a defensive mistake but the Bombers equalised on the stroke of half-time when Azi Damboyi made a good run and allowed Joe Bouskill to fire home.
Morecambe regained the lead early in the second half when Hodder got his second but the Bombers pulled back the goal five minutes later.
A superb run down the right wing from defender Abu Mohhamed took him past three players and allowed him to set up Damboyi to equalise.
Bombers' goalkeeper Jonathon Hill was pulling off some superb saves and his heroics continued when the game went to penalties.
Daniel McGahon and Abu Damboyi scored for Bombers and Mark Murphy and Aaron Taylor fired home for Morecambe.
It went to sudden death.
There were two more misses for each side before Joe Bouskill's goal put the Bombers in the driving seat but Murphy scored again to keep the pressure on for Morecambe.
Morecambe were in control every time the Bombers missed and they took advantage when keeper Atkinson scored, even though Hill had gone the right way.
Bowerham Bombers are looking for new players and coaches for next season. The club runs teams for children aged 8 to 14 and trials will be held shortly.
