POULTON'S Gala Queen gave the town a regal wave of approval as she paraded through the streets on Saturda (June 3).
Eleven-year-old Sian Simpson, from Poulton CE School, said she was delighted to be picked out from the many hopefuls keen to get their hands on the crown.
"I felt honoured to have been selected by Poulton Methodist Church and I am proud to be representing Poulton," Sian, pictured here, said.
The streets of the town were lined with people hoping that the weather would hold out for a glorious gala afternoon.
"We were lucky with the weather because it stayed fine all the way through the presentations and parade," said publicity officer Chris Frost.
"It was a real triumph for the parade this year with some truly excellent floats. We do award prizes for the best and the most original, but there are so many different categories that to pick out one in particular as the overall winner would be unfair.
"The floats with the children on are always the favourites with the crowds."
Alongside the parade, troupes of volunteers collected cash from the crowd to go towards the Gala Day Charity.
"Instead of just collecting for one cause, money is put into the fund and then charitable organisations approach us with requests for cash," said Chris.
"It will take several days to add up just how much we made from this year's events, but it was certainly a substantial amount and could even break last year's total."
