MORECAMBE Bay Independent councillors have moved to allay fears that the area's taxi cabs are to be de-regulated.
However, environment policy committee chairman, Cllr Mark Turner, is planning a number of initiatives in a bid to improve taxi provision.
An immediate survey will be carried out to establish if taxi levels are adequate. Surveys will then be held every three years.
New taxi plates will only be given to disabled adapted vehicles, night-time ranks are to be introduced in known trouble spots to reduce crowd problems and a new code of conduct is to be implemented.
