ALLANSON Street Primary School has reason to be proud this week after 11-year-old Laura Wilson became the second pupil from the Parr school to receive the Young Citizen of the Year Award.
Laura, from Seath Avenue, Parr, received the accolade, which is sponsored by LVQ Phoenix of Crank (formerly Phoenix training North West), at a special ceremony in St George's Hall, Liverpool.
Delighted Headteacher, Chris Maloney said: "Laura is an asset to the school and her family both academically and, perhaps more importantly, for her caring nature and understanding of the other childrens' needs. The children can, and do, go to her for help with personal problems because of her even handedness and ability to reach sensible decisions. She also helps others in her class when they have difficulty with their academic work.
"There was no hesitation in selecting Laura as our Young Citizen of the Year and I am grateful to LVQ training for their support and sponsorship of the award."
At the awards ceremony LVQ Phoenix, which specialises in a wide range of legal, business and IT Courses and consultancy in the North of England, was also presented with the prestigious Investor in People Award by St Helens Chamber of Commerce, for the company's continued commitment to improving performance through employee training and development.
