THEY Think It's All Open ..... It is now!
Jonathan Ross, motor-mouthed star of BBC's top comedy sports quiz and famed for pronouncing his Rs like Ws, will be cutting the ribbon on the Pleasure Beach's latest multi-million pound thrill-ride Valhalla.
The Viking-themed water ride opens next Wednesday (June 14) and the BBC star, escorted by his wife Jane Goldman, will take his place in the longboats which race around the six-minute trial of fire and through millions of poundsworth of Hollywood special effects.
And a stream of radio stars and top pop acts will also be gracing the fun park for a day filled with feasting, fireworks and familiar faces.
Jonathan has been a cult figure on the country's TV screens since he first made his presence felt on Channel Four's The Last Resort, one episode of which was famously broadcast from a house in Poulton-Le-Fylde. But Jonathan is not the only star of the airwaves at the fun park that day. Rock FM will be on site broadcasting from day break to sunset with their usual team of Brian Moore, Ian Roberts, Glen Hunt and Mark Kaye. And they will be accompanied by some very, very special musical guests.
Leeds lads Embrace will be there to play for all you good, good people, top pop trio Cleopatra will also be comin' at ya, Tin Tin Out will be in town and Damage will be wreaking havoc on stage.
Radio One's Mark and Lard will also be broadcasting live to the whole of the UK from outside Valhalla between 2-4pm.
And then the fun will continue late into the night with a fantastic concert in the Pleasure Beach's famous Globe Theatre hosted by Rock FM, with top acts still to be confirmed. But, given the afternoon line up, who knows who'll be there!
Valhalla is the mythical paradise for brave Viking warriors, a kind of pagan heaven where they are selected by Valkyries, the daughters of god of war Odin, to come and feast with him in his halls forever.
The ride represents that journey, taking you through extremes of temperature, from -20 to 110 degrees, covering you in real snow, roasting you with 30ft fireballs and hurling you screaming down 80ft drops in the pitch black.
VIP guests will be taking their rides in the morning and in the afternoon Mark and Lard will be opening it up for the public to come and enjoy.
