A FIGHTING display by two of the youngsters players in the match ensured Eccleston had to settle for a draw against neighbours Sutton on Sunday.
Batting first on a damp Bobbies Lane wicket, Eccleston reached 134-7.
The highlight was Mike Manley's splendid 63 and he received valuable support from Trevor French before he was run out for 36.
The only other player to reach double figures was Mike Cross with 11.
Pick of the Sutton bowlers was Greener (2-13).
When Sutton batted, openers Lanchin (17) and Tunstall (12) gave them a steady start. Harvey chipped in with 21, but the men from New Street collapsed to 65-9.
And it was left to juniors Phil Frost and Gary Greener to bat out the last 12 overs and at the close Sutton were only 75-9.
Burrows was Eccleston's best bowler with 6-17, while Elliott took 2-23 and Ashton 1-10.
Monday saw Sutton first team in Liverpool Echo Cup action against Formby.
Formby batted first and amde 155-3 in 20 overs.
In reply, Sutton made 113-5.
