ON Monday, May 29, I was appalled by the organisation of the Manchester and Bury transport companies.
That night there was a large street festival in Manchester which well over 3,000 people attended. There was also a Steps concert and a concert at Manchester University.
You would have thought that if the transport bosses had any sense they would have put on special trams to cope with these high-profile events. But no. The last Metrolink tram departed Manchester at 10.30pm.
Around 11pm all three events had finished and myself and my friends, who had been performing in the street festival, were told there were no more trams. There were no visible information notices up in Bury or at any other tram station between Bury and Piccadilly.
We had to wait until 2am to get home and many more had to wait even longer. Metrolink knew that there were special events on in Manchester but they just don't seem to be bothered about the welfare of their customers. I am therefore suggesting a boycott of the trams until they realise that they need to organise themselves better. I hope others will support it.
