A BABY owl caused a real hoot among spectators at the Saints Academy game against Salford at Knowsley Road.
The young bird was disturbed by a goal-kick which sailed onto the roof of the Edington stand.
Luckily, as our picture shows, it landed safely in the hands of fan, Mel Mawdsley and quickly attracted the attention of ground stewards.
However, unimpressed by the on-field action, our feathered friend soon took off for its natural habitat, which beggars the question as to whether the Edington is a haven for a protected species.
If so, does that mean that demolition will be delayed of a stand which has stood the test of time since 1950? No doubt, many of the Knowsley Road faithful are hoping multi-breeding is the norm among the girders and stanchions!
