LLOYDS TSB have pledged to keep their Nelson bank open.
The company has told Pendle MP Gordon Prentice that the firm "currently and for the forseeable future, have no plans to close the branch."
His reassurance comes after intense speculation that many banks in medium sized towns and villages are to close.
Mr Prentice said: "The news from Lloyds TSB is very welcome. The last thing Pendle needs is a spate of bank closures."
Barclays insisted on closing their branch in Earby despite strong protests from local people and Mr Prentice.
Recently the Government condemned the banks for making excessive profits and overcharging their customers by up to £5 billion.
