POLICE trying to trace missing wedding guest Keith Munton are examining a jacket found on playing fields in Nelson to see if it belonged to him.
The jacket was found on Swinden playing fields, near to the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, on Tuesday.
Police said it was too early to say whether it belonged to Mr Munton, 57, of Birtwistle Avenue, Colne, who disappeared 11 days ago after leaving an evening wedding reception at the Fence Gate Inn, Fence, to walk home in the middle of a storm.
Swinden playing fields are on one of the possible routes Mr Munton, an engineer at Fort Vale Engineering, Nelson, could have taken home.
Posters appealing for help in tracing him have gone up in local pubs and clubs and in other public places between the Fence Gate and Mr Munton's home.
The search has involved the police helicopter, underwater search teams, foot patrols and members of Rossendale search and rescue team.
Mr Munton is 5ft 2in tall, of slim build, with grey hair. Witnesses said he was wearing a light blue long-sleeved shirt and beige trousers when he was at the Fence Gate but did not mention a jacket.
