POLICE investigating the disappearance of an East Lancashire schoolgirl fear she may have travelled to London.
Ruksana Khatun has not been seen since Saturday, when she was caught on CCTV cameras boarding a train at Accrington Railway Station, carrying several bags.
Officers probing the 15-year-old's disappearance initially believed she had travelled to the Colne area, where she has relatives and where the train was heading.
But exhaustive inquiries, including the questioning of friends and family from across the country, have so far drawn a blank.
A spokesman for Accrington Police said: "We now believe she has travelled to London.
"We have spoken to her friends and family, who are scattered all over the country, and they do not know where she is.
"Her parents have been very concerned for her welfare from the start but they are understandably getting more and more worried as each day passes."
Ruksana lives with her parents in Accrington.
She is described as 4ft 10ins tall, with brown eyes, brown curly hair and a very pale complexion.
When spotted by CCTV, she was wearing a three-quarter length wool coat and a traditional purple Asian head dress.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Accrington Police on 01254 232036.
