BACUP's 2nd Rossendale Scout Group Band will rub shoulders with senior brass players when they take part in the annual Whit Friday Marches around Saddleworth tomorrow.
The band includes young men and women over a wide age range, from 10 upwards and has picked up prizes in previous outings in Saddleworth.
The event will see the band marching through numerous villages around Saddleworth including Denshaw, Grotten, Luggett, Uppermill and Delph, playing their competition tunes 'Slaidburn' and 'The Cossack'.
Scout Group Leader Michael Warwick said: "We've done well here before, and we're hoping we can bring something back with us again. Either way, though, it's great, for the younger members especially, just to take part in such a colourful and exciting event, and see how widespread is the passion for brass bands."
Band member Graham Helm added: "There's some of us more confident of getting our notes right than keeping in step, but it'll be all right on the night. We're all looking forward to it. We're hoping to do well, but this really is an event where the main thing is the fun of being part of it."
