ANDY HALL ran his heart out for Atherton.
But in the end they were happy to settle for a home draw with Darcy Lever just six runs short at close of play.
Hall was unbeaten on 80 in Atherton's total of 180-8, only Greg Greenough (40) keeping him company against a tight bowling spell from Richard Sutcliffe, who ended his playing days with a handsome return of 5-53 off 18 overs.
The all-rounder has spent a lifetime in the game playing with a number of clubs and in different leagues.
Now he has decided to take a back seat but he certainly gave Darcy a glimpse of what they will miss.
Darcy made a brave attempt at victory, pro Jason Whittaker scoring 52, but they fell short by six, ending on 174-7.
