WHEN delegates to the National Union of Teachers conference "walked out" on a government minister a few weeks ago, the media flew into a frenzy of attacks on the union, named individuals allegedly responsible for orchestrating disruptive behaviour and demanded their dismissal.
Yet, when delegates to the Women's Institute conference slow hand clap the Prime Minister, there are no ringing denunciations of the WI in the media, only discussion on whether he was badly advised by his New Labour spin doctors.
A cynic would be forgiven for concluding that the media is biased against trade unions and their members!
