AM I alone in questioning the sanity of the operators of the illuminated warning signs along the M65?
I have lost count of the times when, after travelling for several miles at the indicated 50 or 30 mph along a perfectly clear motorway, free of roadworks or accidents, I have been greeted by a sign saying 'End'.
Heading towards Colne the other day, one lane was closed for roadworks, but there were no speed restrictions, while on the return leg, which had no roadworks, the traffic was restricted to 30 mph!
I am well aware of the important safety contribution these signs make, but, surely, their use must be appropriate. Otherwise, people will totally ignore them, thinking it is yet again a 'false alarm,' with potentially fatal results.
