OH we do like to be beside the seaside! That's the cry of the cast of Coronation Street as they packed their bags and swapped the Street for the Prom.
After all the traumatic events of the last two weeks on ITV's ratings-grabbing soap, producers decided that it was time for a bit of light relief.
Zoe Cartell is PR for the television series and gave a few hints at what we could look forward to in the show, due to be aired in three weeks time.
"It has been a hard week for fans of the show with the death of the baby and Alison's suicide," she said. "But you can tell with characters in town like Jack and Vera, Maria, Gary and the twins that it is going to be a little more light-hearted."
She remained tight-lipped about the plot, but those who saw the outdoor filming on the beach near Central Pier hinted that the story could involve a daring sea-rescue by Gary Mallett.
