YOU just can't put a good Shark down!
Hindsford Sharks U9s created their own unique piece of mini soccer history when they entered the Horwich St Mary's Front Runner Trophy.
They ended up winning the competition -- and finishing as runners-up as well!
Both Hindsford teams met in the final after they fought through gruelling group matches against the likes of Ladybridge, Deans Sports and Boothstown before defeating both Eastleigh and Rossendale Valley in the semis.
The teams were so evenly matched the final went to extra-time and then penalties.
It was decided after a tense shoot-out with goalkeeper Joseph Smith the hero.
He scored what turned out to be the winning penalty before saving the final effort to earn his team the trophy.
Hindsford Sharks Junior FC, who will be sponsored by the new Tyldesley McDonalds next season, were the real winners.
And, with more competitions coming up over the summer, who would bet against them repeating the feat somewhere along the line.
Meanwhile, Hindsford Juniors are looking for new players to join their teams at all age groups from U7s through U10s.
Anybody interested in joining this successful set up should call 01942-748007.
