A BREWERY'S pub chain is expanding with a major deal in the Midlands.
Blackburn-based Thwaites has bought nine flagship pubs in the Solihull and Coventry area from Bass.
The pubs will come under the firm's managed houses division, Thwaites Inns.
"This is our biggest ever managed house acquisition and it emphasies our determination to grow our business base by adding high quality pubs to the estate," said Paul Howarth, Thwaites Inns' retail director.
"Over recent years we have taken many positive steps aimed at expanding our trading estate outside the traditional base around East Lancashire."
The pubs the firm has bought are a mix of strong food establishments and community locals.
"When the opportunity to purchase presented itself we had no hesitation in taking advantage because these are quality businesses of significant value with excellent locations and true potential for development."
