CLEVER Helen Worthington is preparing to receive the coveted Queen's Guide Award later on this year after completing the final part in which she had to prove her 'Service as a Citizen'.
Helen (18), from Rainhill, is currently studying chemistry at Oxford University but in between her studies, she has been attending the Hope Unit, a Rainhill-based organisation which helps local young people to work towards achieving their Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Helen, a former recipient of the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award from the unit, has been working towards her Queens Guide Award, which is the highest honour a guide can receive, for the last three years.
As part of her work, she helped a group of DoE students to win their silver award, thanks to her teaching expertise in map reading, routing and other expedition skills.
