FROM music to mirth, from culture to costumes -- whatever your tastes, there is sure to be entertainment to suit at one or other of our local venues in the weeks ahead. ON Sunday, June 11 the Theatre Royal plays host to Helen Lederer's 'One Night Stand' in which the star of TV's 'Absolutely Fabulous' teams up with musical funny man Tim McArthur to provide an evening of music and comedy, This also gets underway at 7.30pm.
AND on Sunday, June 25, 'Stayin' Alive' -- a tribute to The Bee Gees -- is on stage at the theatre, also from 7.30pm.
ON Friday, June 9 The Citadel plays host to the St Helens Music Collective who will serve up great rock and pop, starting at 8pm.
AND on Saturday, June 10 Cheryl Beer is on stage from 8.30pm.
OUR very own Johnny Vegas is back at The Citadel on Thursday, June 15 with his Gameshow. Why not pop along and join in the fun which starts at 8pm?
LOOKING forward to Friday and Saturday, June 23 and 24 The Matchbox Theatre Company will be presenting Alan Bennett's 'Talking Heads' at The Citadel. Curtain up is 8pm both nights.
PADDY Wack is a fund-raising event for the Willowbrook Hospice which is being held on Monday, June 26 starting 8pm at Eccleston Social Club, Holme Road. This wil be an evening of Irish music, song and dance and further details are available from the Campaign Office on 01744 453798.
THE Rainford Gallery in Central Library, Victoria Square is playing host to an exhibition by the Rainford-based Starving Wife Art Company until Thursday, June 29. THE World of Glass will play host to 'Fashion for the Screen' which features costumes from some of the best British films and TV dramas of recent years including 'Pride and Prejudice', 'Elizabeth' and 'Onegin.' This is from Wednesday, June 14 to Friday, August 18.
ST HELENS Sinfonietta will be presenting 'A Viennese Evening' on Saturday, June 10 starting at 7.30pm. This is at Ormskirk Street United Reform Church and tickets are available from 01744 616635,01744 28314 or 01744 22632.
PILKINGTON Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society are organising a Rock 'n' Roll Night on Saturday, June 10 in the cabaret room at Saints Rugby League club starting at 8.30pm. This will feature a live band and hot-pot supper and admission by ticket, priced £5. Further details from 01744 630748.
SWAMPSTOMPERS will be holding an accoustic session at The Rendezvous in Church Street, St Helens, tomorrow (Friday, June 9), starting at 8pm.
THE Jazz Rendezvous at the Star in Rainford will play host to a performance by Doctor Jazz with Edwina, a session in the Chris Barber mould, from 8.30pm on Sunday, June 11. Admission is free.
