A LOCAL girl who defied all the odds to achieve a Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award, attended a special ceremony at St James Palace to receive her prize.
Twenty year old Lisa Musgrove, from Redruth Avenue, Laffak, has Downs Syndrome but hasn't let it hold her back in any way.
The former Mill Green Special School pupil has been working towards achieving her dream for over 18 months and has taken part in numerous activities including a 30 mile hike, working in a shop and working with a group of students on a residential project in the French Alps.
St Helens College student Lisa, a former member of the Silhouette Dance Club, also perfected skills in Latin, ballroom and line dancing and she is pictured here with one of her dancing medals.
