CLAUDE Henderson's dogged resistance with the bat paved the way for an East Lancs victory in a low scoring contest with Haslingden.
Although East Lancs were set a target of just 133 it looked ominous when they plunged to 96-7, but Henderson was determined and try as they might, Haslingden couldn't shift him.
Henderson shared a six wicket stand of 42 with Paul Kelly and then with four overs to spare hit a towering six off Ian Cameron to secure success.
Earlier a fifth wicket stand of 57 between Stuart Taylor and Barry Knowles rescued Haslingden, Henderson and Ian Haworth taking three wickets apiece as the visitors struggled to 132-9 on an unpredictable pitch. ENFIELD scored a thrilling triumph over Lowerhouse -- but they left it late.
There were only three balls remaining when Adam Jarrett hit a boundary to give Enfield an outstanding win although they were indebted to a ninth wicket stand of 17 between Jarrett and Neil Holmes after professional David Saker had paved the way with a magnificent 82.
Lowerhouse, superbly served by an unbeaten 86 from Nick Hope had rattled up an impressive 194-4 and when they got rid of Saker, Enfield were still 17 short of their target, but Jarrett and Holmes kept their composure in a exciting final over to guide Enfield through but only just.
