PUPILS, parents and teachers are working together, using our NIE Super Story Search literacy resource at a school in Blackburn, where an end of term news-sheet is also planned.
All pupils in year six at Daisyfield primary school are taking home their daily delivered copies of our newspaper, along with our workbooks.
And parents are delighted to keep up with the news themselves while helping their children to improve reading skills.
Class teacher and deputy headteacher David Barrett ordered our material for the fourth year and has structured class work related to the project around their literacy hour.
He said: "The children will also be making two visits to see Lancashire Evening Telegraph production at first hand, reinforcing the importance of ICT skills in real life jobs and preparing them for the production of our own news-sheet".
Our Super Story Search material, for KS2 and KS3, including the workbooks, reading incentives, certificates and delivery of our newspaper for any three week period, is available to any school within our circulation area.
Please contact NIE coordinator Rita Shaw for further details.
