MY LEGS were shaking as I stood up in front of fourteen thousand people to tell them about my hopes and dreams for the future.
The place was a football stadium, but this wasn't a match day.
Deepdale, the home of Preston North End FC, was taken over for a day by the "That's the Spirit" Christian festival, organised by the Churches Together movement. And I was invited to read out my winning entry in a prayer for the millennium competition for schools. Joshua Moreton and myself, both from Our Lady and St Hubert's RC primary school in Great Harwood, were two of the ten Lancashire winners of the competition, but unfortunately Josh became ill and could not be there on the day.
When my big moment came to read my prayer I was very nervous.
I said that I hoped that living conditions would improve for people in third world countries and for all disabled and handicapped people. I would also like people to stop fighting and to take better care of the environment. But most of all I hoped that more people would go to church.
Among the huge crowd were bishops and archbishops and of course my mum, dad, grandma and brother.
I think that they were very proud of me and I will treasure the Bible I was given to remember the day.
