FORMER Westholme High pupil Antonia Kershaw has returned to school to talk about her fundraising cycle ride from the Great Wall of China to Tiananmen Square.
Antonia joined more than 100 cyclists to complete the gruelling 480km China Bike Ride to raise money for people with learning disabilities.
And she returned to Westholme to tell the pupils about her expedition.
The group passed through stunning landscapes and historic sights including the tombs of the Ming emperors and Fragrant Hill Park. The challenge began and ended in Beijing. Antonia trained for six months and was cycling 40-miles three times a week.
She set a target of £2,500, to go towards Mencap's work supporting people with learning disabilities, and Westholme School was the single largest sponsor with pupils raising £465.
Antonia left Westholme in 1987 and took a degree in archaeology at York University. She is now a qualified archaeologist and works for English Heritage, where she maps remains from aerial photographs.
