PENDLE Athletics Club picked up no few than 12 first places in the latest round of the Mid-Lancashire track and field meeting.
While strong winds meant that no records were broken and personal best times were at a minimum, there were still some very good performances.
Host team Burnley Athletics Club had a strong turn out and figured prominently among the top placings but it was Pendle who were in top form.
In the boys under 13s 800m Ben Rusius was first in 2 min 26.2 seconds while Pendle team-mate Sam Dickson was third in the 1500m in 5 min 25 secs.
James Finucane achieved Pendle's second first place in the under 13s when he won the shot put with a throw of 7.27m. Joshua Sinclair was third with a throw of 6.70m.
In the under 15s age group James Rusius was first in the 1500m in 4 min 43.03 secs.
In the 800m, Tony Roscoe finished third behind Burnley pair Chris Hart, who won in a time of 2 min 19.09 secs and 2 min 21.06 secs. Roscoe also managed a third place in the shot put with a throw of 8.01m. In the senior men's triple jump, Pendle's Lee Golding took first place with a leap of 1.90m. However the senior event was dominated by Hyndburn's Rory Birbeck who won the high jump, shot put and javelin.
Blackburn's Richard Bury was second in the discus with a throw of 36.12m. In the girls events, Pendle were in equally impressive form. Justine Anderton won the 800m in 2 min 35.04 secs with Katie Walker in third place. Walker was also second in the high jump with 1.15m.
In the under 15s, Pendle's Sally Targett won the 100m in 13 min 07 secs ahead of team-mate Sam White in second place.
White did win the 200m in 28.03 ahead of Laura Finucane and Nicola Smith made sure in was a top three finish for Pendle. White also won the long jump in 4.38m.
Hyndburn enjoyed some success in the field events with Lauren Grime finishing third in the shot put and second in the discus with Sarah Shahid taking second spot in the Javelin. In the under 17s, Lisa Ashworth was first in the 200m with Laura Dunlop second in both the 300m and javelin.
Pendle's Vicky Haydock achieved two first places in the senior category winning both the 200m and shot put. Team-mate Vicky Gorton won the discus. As well as Chris Hart's success in the under 15s section, Owen Woodward also won in the under 17s triple jump and finished second in the high jump. In the senior men's event, Mike Lineker had to settle for second in the triple jump and third in the high jump. But team-mate David Hornsby won the long jump in 5.39m. Danielle Walker was Burnley's best performer in the under 13s 1500m when she finished third.
