RENOWNED pianist John Lill has had to postpone his appearance at this year's Ribble Valley International Piano Week.
Stephen Hough has stepped into the breach and will perform at tonight's recital at the Centenaries Theatre at St Mary's Hall, Stonyhurst.
Stephen is known for his colourful performances and his championship of neglected works.
His programme will include Copland's Variations, David del Tredici's Wedding Song, Liszt's Ballade no 2 in B minor and Lowell Lieberman's 3 Impromptus.
Martin Roscoe, artistic director of the Piano Week, said: "Naturally we are disappointed that John Lill is unable to be with us for our millennium festival, but in Stephen Hough we have one of the most sought-after and exhilarating pianists as a replacement."
All tickets sold for John Lill's recital are valid for Stephen Hough's performance.
Anyone who would like to exchange their tickets should contact the festival office on 01229 861355.
