REGARDING the problem which the Hussainia Cricket Club is experiencing with the St Andrew's Ground, Burnley (LET, June 12 and 13) I would suggest that the residents of Basnett Street study the photograph of the Colne v Rishton match in your June 19 issue.
The houses in the background face the Horsfield on Keighley Road, Colne. Over the years countless, massive hits have cleared the ground and landed in the road. The residents do not make a song and dance - they accept the position.
The Hussainia Club has, I understand, spent a considerable amount of money on the pavilion at St Andrew's. Cricket has been played there for more than 100 years.
For these reasons, I feel that the club should have been allowed to keep its licence.
