FOLLOWING your articles (LET, June 16), concerning Educational Maintenance Allowance travel pilot being set up for East Lancashire (with exception of Blackburn with Darwen).
I would like to let readers know that those school leavers who live in East Lancashire still wishing to travel to Blackburn College, will receive support through the college's travel scheme, even if they are not entitled to support from the EMA pilot.
We will do our best to ensure that no student in East Lancashire will be disadvantaged, if they wish to attend Blackburn College from September.
We shall endeavour to work with our partners to ensure that the pilot is as successful as possible, given the exclusion of Blackburn with Darwen residents.
If young people or parents have any questions about our travel scheme they should contact our travel desk on 01254 292529.
MATTHEW GRANT, Assistant Principal, Student and Community Services, Blackburn College, Feilden Street, Blackburn.
