IF YOU can't touch your toes without wincing and going purple in the face then prepare to be thoroughly sickened by the dazzling dexterity and sheer skill of the cast of Eclipse at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, pictured.
Lithe ladies defy gravity to hang from red curtains (a scarily talented Elena Schumskia), swing on stomach-churningly high ropes (the brilliant Svetlana Murzak) and fold themselves into impossible positions ( sensational sister act Ganbaatar and Purevdorj Ganchimeg), while the boys fly through the air and generally look fabulous, whether somersaulting onto a scarily slim pole or tumbling on a trampoline.
And it's all held together by impish ringmaster Ian Meeson who cleverly alternates between keeping a watchful eye on the proceedings, leading a fast dance routine or breaking into song to narrate the tale of elements fire, water and air like Shakespeare's Puck.
But it's Vladimir the crowds have come to see and gasps escape from heaving bosoms as doors slide apart to release the Lord Of The Elements himself to soar high above the audience. Perfectly toned and tanned and wearing the tiniest of undergarments, the aerialist extraordinaire has taken on the extra role of assistant director this year.
But watch out Mr Vladimir Kekhaial because there's another Vladimir (that's Malachikhin) creeping up behind you to steal the show with his graceful routine of balance and strength executed with a serious professionalism that belies his 16 years.
This third summer outing for the Stageworks circballet has the artistic influence of producer and director Amanda Thompson stamped all over it.
But this time the choreography is from Antony Johns who leads the talented troupe through everything from graceful ballet steps to fast-paced and dramatic company numbers.
If you like circus performers and you like ballet then here's two for the price of one with the added extras of superb lighting, knockout costumes and slick choreography.
Close Your Eyes And Dream, begs Mr Meeson. But if you do that you'll miss all the fun.
Eclipse runs at the Globe Theatre, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, from June 17 to November 5. For booking information call (0870) 4445566.
