THEY call it the House of Pain. But the Centurions have high hopes that Sunday will be a Pain-less experience!
Leigh will be playing for high stakes at Doncaster's fortress Belle Vue. Victory could seal a top four finish in the NFP; defeat could see the Centurions outside the 'four' for the first time since January.
No wonder, therefore, that the Centurions' camp has singled this out as their biggest challenge of the season.
The Dragons have a 100 per cent home record and go into the final two league games of the season pushing hard for a top four finish themselves.
"Doncaster have called their ground the House of Pain. About 4.30pm on Sunday we're expecting them to be in pain, not us," declares optimistic coach Paul Terzis.
"Of course it's a big game and a big challenge for us but every big challenge that's been put in front of the players this season they've responded to. I've no reason to think Sunday will be any different.
"We're the only team to have beaten Keighley twice, ending a 15-match winning run along the way, and we're the only side to have won at Dewsbury. What have we got to be apprehensive about?
"Let the opposition worry about us. Every team in this competition knows how much damage Leigh can inflict on our day," he adds.
"These are exciting times for Leigh. We already know that we're going to be playing semi-final football in a couple of weeks and then there is the prospect of a Grand Final at the end of it.
"The other night I got all the players together and asked them to raise their hands if they'd ever played in a Grand Final. Only three hands went up. Then I asked them how many wanted to play in a Grand Final and all 25 hands were raised.
"That was great to see. They have a determination to do well for themselves as individuals and for the club and they'll give it their best shot. Not many players get the chance to figure in a Grand Final and when it comes along you've got to take it with both hands."
Terzis will go into the Sunday's blockbuster without scrum-half Craig Dean who has a hernia problem. Kieron Purtill comes back after being rested last week and takes the number seven shirt.
His half-back partner will be either Andy Fairclough or Radney Bowker but skipper Fairclough will be in the starting 13 somewhere.
Also back after missing last week's win over Lancashire Lynx are Simon Baldwin (groin) and Phil Kendrick (throat infection) while top scorer Paul Wingfield is in the 18-man squad after being out for four weeks with a damaged ankle.
New signing Liam Bretherton won't be making the trip to Doncaster as he gets married tomorrow. He will, however, be available for the home game against Dewsbury on Sunday week.
