HOW did St Helens Council feel when, after rejecting planning permission for the cattery at Chester Lane, their decision was overturned by the Government Planning Inspectorate?
This was a decision made by people who do not live in the area and do not know the people and were not voted for by the constituents. The feelings of the people in this area are totally against this cattery. The Cats Protection League have not had the decency to even talk to the people in the area. They are building this monstrosity despite there being so much protest against it going ahead.
A petition that went around was signed by 99 per cent of the estate, the other one per cent being Cats Protection League members or cat lovers. I am not anti-cat or an animal hater, but I do think that something of this size -- housing up to 200 cats and open 24 hours a day -- is in the wrong location.
It is now too late to stop this from going ahead, but I, for one, will be putting my house up for sale, that is if I could sell it after this has been built!
