A SUPERB 70 from Munaf Bavla helped Preston to the area final of the National Club Championship.

And now they will face old rivals Chorley determined to avenge some sound thrashing in recent years.

Home advantage might just give them an edge.

Preston captain Tony Hesketh must fancy his side's chances following an excellent victory against the Ribblesdale League side.

Hesketh believes his team will progress further in the competition because it requires at least five bowlers to participate. He said: "League matches are often dominated by professionals and we haven't been faring too well.

"But the number of good all-round players we have means we can -- and are -- doing well in this tournament."

All-rounder Jabir Namajee will miss the game as he is cup-tied for the competition, having competed for former-club Blackpool in an earlier round.

The area final will be played on July 2.

Score: Preston 136-6 v Ribblesdale Wands 135-9.
