LEYLAND DAF folded like a seaside deckchair as they began a run-chase to overhaul Chorley. And it could all be put down to a freak long hop from Stephen Cooke which Stuart Catterall played on.
Daf couldn't believe their bad luck and collapsed, losing nine wickets for just 39 runs as Chorley grabbed their second win of the season.
DAF captain David Makinson's decision to put Chorley into bat appeared a prudent one when Neil Bannister was dismissed without a run on the board.
However, Chorley pressed on towards a very useful total. John returned the impressive figures of 4-49 off 16 overs.
DAF made a good start to their innings reaching 21 before losing a wicket; James Aspinall bowled by Chorley professional Josh Marquet for 12.
Catterall and Alan Richardson dug in and shared 57 runs before the former was bowled for 29. A major DAF collapse soon followed with only Richardson offering real resistance before he was lbw to Marquet for 44.
Score: Leyland DAF ... 117 v Chorley ... 204-9
