AS Preston folk dream of the hot sunny days ahead, police are warning motorists about the dangers of drinking and driving during summer.
They say It is often all too tempting to sit out in the sun all day with a few pints and get back into the car.
But Lancashire Police and Lancashire County Council have united under 'Together We Can Make The Difference' to launch this year's anti-drink driving campaign, 'Drink Link'.
The campaign is aimed at drink drivers and help prevent crashes and further deaths on the county's roads related to drink driving.
Emphasis is being placed on encouraging members of the public to report drink drive offenders through the Crimestoppers 'Drink Link' Freephone line on 0800 555 111.
Chief Inspector Ian Bell, road policing co-ordinator, said: "Although there has been a significant reduction in the number of people killed in drink drive related crashes over the last 15 years, there still remains a hard-core of drivers who persist with this irresponsible behaviour and drink driving remains a serious life-threatening issue.
"If we can save even one life as a result of making people more aware of the dangers of drink driving then this campaign will have been worthwhile."
