A FYLDE vicar has got to grips with cyber technology and launched his own online marriage helpline for couples who want to tie the knot.
Canon Godfrey Hurst, vicar of St Cuthbert's Church, Church Road, Lytham, is pioneering the project, which aims to give the answers to frequently asked marriage-related questions.
Canon Hurst said a lot of couples were nervous about contacting the vicar or priest for the first time and the website offered them the chance to find out about the ceremony and any regulations the church may have before making an appointment with the vicar.
"Some people find it extremely difficult to approach a member of the clergy.
"The website www.confetti.co.uk offers the answers to those commonly asked questions and also gives general information.
"Couples will benefit and also gain reassurance and confidence from learning about the marriage ceremony before they speak to the vicar.
"I am in favour of using technology in the church as long as it is only as a first stage or an inquiry service.
"Marriage is a very personal thing and you cannot replace face to face contact," he said.
