BLACKPOOL in the summer season is used to seeing a lot of stars.
But when seasoned astronomer Patrick Moore comes to Fleetwood we can expect to see billions.
July 2 sees the host of TV's longest running programme The Sky At Night coming the the Marine Hall to deliver a lecture called "Into Space!"
Dr Patrick Moore, pictured with one of his many telescopes, has been presenting the BBCs astronomy programme for more than 41 years, but his involvement with space goes much deeper than that.
Author of more than 100 books on various aspects of the universe, he has been involved in mapping the moon for NASA for the Apollo landings and he is also considered to be an expert on the planets.
The lecture begins with a general introduction to the heavens and space travel explaining how as humans we came to explore the sky, first with telescopes and then rockets.
The talk takes us through the various planets and then past the solar system, deep into the Milky Way and then beyond outwards in to the vast expanses of the universe.
Suitable for all ages Into Space! is on July 2 at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £9 and £8 concession and are available by calling (01253) 771141.
