LANCASTER City's summer preparations are continuing apace, with ins and outs expected before the club returns to pre-season training in a fortnight.
Experienced former Blackpool, Crewe and Southport star Brian Butler is Tony Hesketh's number one target.
The Leigh RMI skipper lead his side to the Unibond league title last season and has been chased by several non-league sides.
But Hesketh expects him to link up with the Dolly Blues for pre-season training before talking terms over a long term deal.
Hesketh confirmed: "I have talked to two or three players who I expect to be joining us for pre-season training." Meanwhile, centre half Jamie Udall is set for more talks with his old club Morecambe when Shrimps boss Jim Harvey returns from holiday this week.
Udall is believed to be keen to play at a higher level and has attracted the attention of other conference clubs.
His likely role in the Morecambe squad for next season may be the deciding factor over his eventual destination.
And Hesketh expects rising star Chris Ward to be at Giant Axe for the new season, despite interest from third division Carlisle United.
The teenager has been approached by Ian Atkins, new boss at Brunton Park, with a view to a future move.
"I'm sure Chris will be with us at the start of the season" said Hesketh: "Carlisle are showing an interest, but they haven't made an offer yet.
"They will be talking to Chris and his father about his future."
