HAYDOCK second team sauntered to a nine-wicket victory over Halsall. Star of the show was back-to-form bowler Dave Jones, who took 6-14, including a hat-trick. Halsall won the toss and elected to bat on a fine batting strip. But they were soon in trouble as Andy Martin (1-12) and Nicky Tinsley (1-14) removed both openers. Halsall then staged a mini-revival until skipper Mickey Foggarty threw the ball to Jones and veteran trundler St Plant (2-11). Their fine display of seam bowling saw Halsall all out for 59. After tea, the Haydock batsmen proved how good the wicket was by knocking off the target for the loss of one wicket in 15 overs. The men among the runs were Ste Webster (28 not out), Barry Cross (10 not out) and Gary Conley (15).
