TWO Leigh and District Youth League teams have met in a pre-season friendly with Dynamo Boys U16s beating AC Horwich by 7-2.
Dynamo took the lead in the third minute when Callum Peters confidently stroked home a penalty kick awarded for handball.
Horwich levelled six minutes later when Carl Mullarkey sprinted clear to place the ball wide of the advancing John Dearden. Both keepers were in good form but with the break looming Peters headed into the path of Craig Drake to restore Dynamo's lead.
Five minutes afre the re-start Horwich conceded an indirect freekick in their box and from the tap Stuart Pickup rifled home.
Good work by Dearden, James Kerrigan and Steven Morgan kept Horwich at bay and midway through the half Phil Pinnington dribbled through a packed defence for Dynamo's fourth goal.
To their credit Dynamo went looking for goals and were cruelly punished on the break when Calvin Williams drove home from Pickup's headed pass.
Immediately Mullarkey pulled one back for the visitors but Dynamo again countered and Williams freed Simon Barber to score. Mullarkey was unlucky when the woodwork denied him a deserved hat-trick.
It left the final word to Pinnington who rounded off the scoring with an overhead kick 10 minutes from time.
The only sour note was a broken ankle suffered by Dynamo midfielder Ryan Pennington.
Dynamo runs teams are various levels and are looking for new players in the following categories:
Under 12 (age 11 on Aug 1) - goalkeeper and two outfield; Under 14 (age 13 on Aug 1) - two outfield; Under 15 (age 14 on Aug 1) - Two outfield; Under 16s (15 on Aug 1) - either striker of midfielder.
