THANK you for our pre-event publicity for our Jubilee 2000 display at the garden party at the Mount Methodist Church, Fleetwood, on Saturday June 10.
The Fleetwood Guides, Brownies and junior church members held up their 19 pairs of shoes representing the 19,000 children who, according to a recent UN report, die every day because of the debt crisis.
We will use the photo enclosed to send a sample of messages to the decision-makers from the world's richest nations who will meet in Japan next month at the G8 summit, and who now have to act in unison to achieve debt reduction from the largest creditors, the IMF and the world bank.
It is only continued pressure from the many millions who support debt reduction which has ensured that the subject is on the agenda at all.
According to Christian Aid, the campaign is one-third of the way towards its objective (halving the level of poverty by the year 2015), and it hopes that in this final month there will be a flood of letters, cards and publicity to let our government know that the electorate are behind them in their effort to fulfil this commitment.
Anyone who would like to support the campaign can telephone me for more information on (01253) 821900.

Winchcombe Road,
