TEACHER Georgina Webber just couldn't believe her eyes when she learned that she was to receive an MBE in the Queen's birthday honours list.
Georgina, who lives in Fistral Drive, Eccleston with husband Gordon, works as an English co-ordinator at Sacred Heart Primary School in Kirkby and was nominated for the award for her literacy work.
Mum of two, Georgina has been teaching for over 30 years and started her career at Eaves County Primary School before moving on to Thatto Heath Primary.
She told the Star: "I was amazed when I opened the envelope and read that I was to get an MBE. I have been involved in a project to help children improve their literacy skills at Sacred Heart which has had good results and I feel very proud to have won this award for being a part of that."
