ADVENTUROUS mum Linda Greenwood enjoyed her first charity trek to Peru so much she plans to fund another one next year.
Linda, 45, of Oakeneaves Avenue, Burnley, took part in the 100km trek in South America last month, after months of fund-raising and exercising.
She had already thought she would like to return next year but her mind was made up when she discovered that despite taking more than 100 photographs during her trip, only 17 had turned out.
She said: "I was devastated when I found out my camera hadn't worked and I don't know how I managed to get home from the shop without crying.
"I had kept a diary every day during the trip and had taken pictures to go with it so that I could make a journal.
"I know that I have to go back now. I am meeting up with some of the other people who went next month so I am hoping they will have some photographs of the views and the people who were there that I can have copies of. It won't be the same but it's better than nothing." Linda raised £2,700 before setting off on the Peru Hike Away which raises money for the cerebral palsy charity SCOPE. She said: "I loved it so much. The people and the country were fantastic and the trip was so well organised.
"One minute we were walking round luscious mountains passing waterfalls and rivers and the next we would be passing snow-capped mountains.
"Everyone was helping each other out and willing each other on when it got difficult.
"This time I am going to self-fund the trip and if anyone wants to donate money or sponsor me they are guaranteed it will go 100 per cent to the charity.
"I am also hoping to take lots of medical items like plasters and paracetamols because the doctors were desperate for them.
"We went into the jungle for the last four days but only stayed for two days because we were invaded by cockroaches."
