A RETIRED farmer, a party of schoolgirls and a leading motorway protester prepared to take on the might of the M65 construction army.
The siege at Copster Hill Farm, Haslingden Road, Guide, began when contractors threatened to demolish a ramshackle barn belonging to 62-year-old Jack Birnie.
Jack said they would have to knock the barn down around his head.
