A LITTLE piece of the Ribble Valley has been shipped over to Romania.
Castle Cement in Clitheroe donated one pallet of ordinary Portland cement following an appeal by the Communication Workers' Union Humanitarian Aid. The organisation is responsible for the build programme in Romania, through Bolton-based merchant, the Cooper Clarke Group Ltd.
The CWUHA-aided project is responsible for converting existing buildings into self-contained units, each incorporating a kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms.
Each unit houses four young adults and provides them with a stable environment in which to live.
Sue Lovate, company secretary for the Cooper Clarke Group Ltd, said: "We regularly raise money for charity so when approached by CWUHA, we were keen to make a donation and encouraged our suppliers to do the same.
"Castle Cement was one company that generously offered to support the cause.
"In addition to the building materials supplied by Castle Cement and other suppliers, staff members donated various items of clothing and toiletries for the charity's shoe box appeal."
