A CAMPAIGNING councillor has vowed to keep a 'close eye' of proposals to extend a telecommunications site opposite Sett End playing fields in Roman Road, Darwen.
Liberal Democrat Kevin Connor, who represents Blackburn with Darwen Council's Marsh House ward, said he was aware that the plan could prove to be contentious.
Orange wants to erect six 21.3 metre high dual polar antennae, four 20.4 metre dish antennae, an equipment cabin and a metre cabinet.
Mr Connor said: "I have looked into the planning application. I know there can be health concerns and also the visual impact. The site is not in an residential area and Orange seem to be dealing with possible the possible visual impact. However, I will be keeping a close eye on the situation."
Members of Blackburn with Darwen planning and highways committee are expected to discuss the application later this month.
